Analysis Paralysis!

Analysis Paralysis!

Who would have guessed that having total freedom would make our heads spin to such a degree as it has in the past few weeks.  As we have continued to research “Round-the-World” (RTW) package tickets from various travel outlets, we have been completely overwhelmed with the number of packages, options, and stipulations from each vendor.  For example, one package may take us:

London — LA — Honolulu — Auckland –  Christchurch — Shanghai — Hong Kong  — London

But then another airline conglomerate or travel outlet may offer a similar ticket with similar cities for more or less.  Some websites include taxes and fees (which are as much as $500) and some don’t.  Some have mileage limits, restrictions against doubling back, requirements or restrictions on crossing oceans, or permitted stopovers.  Different airlines have different fees for high season, low season, mid season — but these vary greatly depending on the airline.

Don’t get me wrong — I’m not complaining.  How could I given the options in front of us — but after weeks and weeks of planning this trip I now truly know the meaning of the term “Analysis Paralysis.”   At some point (hopefully in the next few days) we just have to pick one and go with it!
