The first half of the day was devoted to driving, but boy was the drive scenic! While on the drive to the other side of Utah we saw snow covered mountain peaks, quick drop-offs of canyons, colorful rocks and cliffs, etc.

Our main goal today was to explore Arches National Park in Utah.  We were awed by the uniqueness of this park.  It is best known for its arches as it contains over 2,000 natural arches.  We were only able to see a sampling of the arches, but they were amazing . . . but don’t take our word for it, take a look at the pictures below.  The sandstone cracks and over time erodes to create the breathtaking arches.

Rock formations took on many unusual forms in the park such as tall rocks shooting straight up out of the ground, large rocks balancing delicately on top of other rocks, and tall sheets of rock creating thin walls.  We hiked on several trails in order to try and take in all of the beauty, but continued to gasp in amazement at each new formation we saw.
