We’ve been fairly delinquent in posting to the blog over the past week, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. We drove up to Katie’s parents’ house on Thursday and drove home on Tuesday.
We had a great time playing board games, card games, and watching movies on the 12 foot screen (now with “stadium seating”)! We even rigged up our laptop to the projector and played some old Nintendo games. It is a lot of fun to play Super Mario on a 12 foot screen!
In the Krenek household, “euchre” is the card game of choice. As an in-law, I’ve done my best to learn the rules (and more importantly, the strategy). As usual, I paired with Jim and Katie paired with her mom. Somehow, the women beat us 6 out of 7 games. (We’re pretty sure they were cheating!)
One day we took a drive out to Volant Mills — an old milling community which is now comprised of shops and a spot for trout fishing. On the way back, Jim and Kathy wanted to show us a place where people feed the carp. They said we had to see it to believe it — and they were right. It was a little disgusting — but the fish are so used to being fed by the visitors that they pile into certain areas in astounding density.
Looks like a fun euchre time had by all!
It’s hard to believe there is water in those carp pits! Glad you had a great trip!
