Dunedin, NZ

We got up this morning and headed straight for the Otago Farmer’s Market located next to Dunedin’s railway station (about a 5 minute walk from where we are staying).  The place was hopping!  We really enjoyed walking around, seeing the different vendors, sampling several tasty products, and (who could resist) purchasing some of the local goodies.  We felt more like locals than tourists while we were at the farmer’s market.  Apparently it’s the thing to do on Saturday mornings.

This afternoon, while we were at our apartment cooking dinner with some of our farmer’s market food, we heard a loud siren and were told to proceed to the nearest exit.  Oh no!  Under normal circumstances I would have automatically assumed it was due to something like burnt popcorn, but a slight doubt entered my mind today since our radiator was making really weird gurgling noises.  I fled out of the building with the rest of the residents only to find out (whew) it was a false alarm.  Someone had burnt some toast in one of the kitchen areas.  We were very thankful that it was just a false alarm and not something more serious.  FYI — Dan wasn’t worried at all since he was in the kitchen with the lady who burnt the toast while I was chopping up some veggies in our room.
